Tedd Drattell - Founder & CEO
Tedd Drattell is Founder and CEO of The A Team. Tedd’s take-charge attitude combined with his extensive background in operations and finance, both in the private and public sectors, helps ensure that The A Team provides the best talent and business recommendations to effectively and successfully meet each client’s needs.
Tedd’s boundless energy is not confined only to his work. He also exercises daily, including running, lifting, and spinning. Travel is another passion that he and his wife share.
Prior to founding The A Team, Tedd worked as a CPA with Big 4 accounting firms, and as a CFO at privately held corporations in the apparel, manufacturing, wholesaling, and importing industries. He received his degree in Accounting, with honors, from The University of Maryland.
Actively involved in the business and local communities, Tedd is a founder of N3 and the Long Island Professional Alliance. He has also served on the Boards of both the Entrepreneurs Organization of New York and the New York Staffing Association.
Dominick Bencivenga - President
Dominick Bencivenga, President, brings to The A Team over 30 years’ experience in managing the financial functions of a large and diverse client base. A big-picture strategist, Dominick also has sharp eye for detail and consistently achieves the best possible results for the companies with whom he works.
Prior to joining The A Team, Dominick founded and ran Freelance Financial, a NY Metro-based accounting solutions company that served start-ups, small businesses and entrepreneurial companies throughout the NY metropolitan area. Early in his career, Dominick was a Vice President in Citibank’s Retail Banking Division, working in such diverse areas as finance, marketing, distribution, sales and branch management.
Dominick, a life-long New Yorker and (long-suffering) New York Mets fan, earned his Bachelor’s degree in Management and his MBA in Finance from New York University’s Stern School of Business.
Debra Phillipes - Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer
Debra’s formal title is Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer; but at the office she is affectionately known as “Den Mother!”
Since graduating from Harvard Law School in 1984, Debra has worked at major national and international law firms, at UCLA School of Law, and in the office of the general counsel at both Hilton Hotels Corporation and Fred Sands Realtors. She has also held executive director positions at two non-profit organizations, and has done a variety of pro-bono work for indigent and special needs clients.
Debra advises The A Team management regarding legal, HR and general business issues, negotiates and drafts contracts and other essential documents, and participates in The A Team’s marketing and social media outreach.
Despite all these jobs, Debra’s greatest accomplishment is raising her two adult sons; and one of her most rewarding experiences is the Ted Talk she gave in 2015.
Mark Javello - Vice President
Mark Javello, Vice President, is the outsourced CFO for several A Team Clients. As CFO, he assists with developing financial models, monitoring business activities and providing financial and strategic guidance. He is also instrumental in providing fundraising support.
For over 25 years, Mark has founded and grown business ventures, expanded company gross revenues and profits, and managed company finances. He has led companies with multiple offices nationwide during rapid growth as well as during business contraction in down markets.
An avid mountain biker and road cyclist, Mark is used to a variety of terrains and is determined to go the distance for our Clients.
Mark received his MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Sloan School of Management with majors in Finance and Management of Technology. He earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a Minor in Engineering Management from Tufts University.
James Norton - Vice President of Client Services and Nonprofit Practice Group Leader
Jim is a highly energetic, senior-level financial professional with experience in both public and private accounting. He is a proven change agent with a track record of helping organizations successfully achieve their business goals.
While working in public accounting, Jim was exposed to a wide variety of industries including the one that became his special expertise – nonprofits. Jim excels in assisting nonprofits ranging from small societies to large 200+ employee social service organizations with complex accounting and audit requirements. By optimizing the analysis and reporting of their financials, Jim enables his not-for-profit Clients to use more of their dollars for mission-based activities.
Jim received his degree in Accounting from Southern Connecticut State University, is a licensed CPA, and is and a member of the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants. A lifelong thespian and a passionate follower of drama and musicals, Jim spent several years performing in various theatrical productions.
Ryan Moore - Senior Controller and Bookkeeping Services Manager
Senior Controller, Ryan Moore, excels at providing A Team clients with the financial clarity to enable them to make the best possible business decisions. Ryan’s expert monthly financial statement reviews, experience creating company dashboards, critical analysis of key performance indicators, and budgeting/variance analyses, along with his general accounting acumen, combine to make Ryan an invaluable asset to clients.
Ryan joined The A Team after honing his skills in the public accounting sector where he served a wide range of clients in a variety of industries including wholesale, professional services, and non-profit organizations. Prior to public accounting, Ryan spent several years as the Director of non-profit youth soccer organizations in Arizona and Colorado where, in addition to training young athletes, he was instrumental in bringing all program accounting in-house and in doubling the program budget in under three years.
Ryan earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Northern Arizona University and his MBA from the University of Arizona. In his leisure time, Ryan enjoys all things soccer and volunteers for a local youth soccer organization.
Emily Adolphsen - Client Experience and Marketing Manager
As Client Experience and Marketing Manager for The A Team, Emily has the perfect opportunity to combine her creative talents in writing and branding and her wide-ranging experience in accounting and client relations.
After receiving her B.S. in Accounting, with honors, from Southern Connecticut State University, Emily practiced public accounting, familiarizing herself with several different industries’ financials and strategies. Following auditing, she entered the cultural exchange sector as a relationship and project manager. Her impressive and varied professional abilities were put to good use in budgeting, generating financial and competitor analyses, branding and marketing, finding staff for clients and organizing events all over the globe.
Always a travel bug, with much of the U.S. and 17 countries visited (and many more on the list), Emily has encountered a wide spectrum of businesses, experiences and personalities and has a strong desire to connect companies in need to The A Team’s outstanding accounting skills and financial practices.
Joan Morelli - Recruiter
As The A Team’s internal and external staffing and recruiting expert, Joan enjoys helping Clients find the perfect talent to help them meet their goals. She excels at highlighting suitable skill-sets, identifying career goals and matching candidates and Clients for successful, long-lasting placements.
Starting in 2007, with an emphasis in legal recruiting, Joan has since expanded her specialty areas to include sales, finance and accounting, and more. A graduate of State University of New York, College at Brockport, Joan received her degree in Communications and took off running. Literally running as well, Joan has completed nine full marathons!
